Featured Quilt - Third Place Abstract at Road to California 2022

Finding Neverland #2: Free Fall by Jan Soules won Third Place - Abstract at Road to California 2022. Also displayed at the Houston International Quilt Festival 2022, Jan says of her quilt, "This is the second in my Finding Neverland series on improv quilts inspired by the work of Sheila Frampton Cooper. I began with basic free-form shapes and let them decide where they wanted to go. The piecing was often challenging, which caused several design decisions and changes to be made along the way. I hope the bold colors and unusual shapes keep you interested in going to Neverland."

The Quilt Show Puzzle: A Quilt That "Wears Many Hats"

"My Mother Wears Many Hats ... and Dresses Too" by Lynette S. Warren

My Mother Wears Many Hats ... and Dresses Too is a special quilt for Lynette, as it was made as a tribute to her mom. The hats of the title refer to the fact that Lynette's mom took on many roles in her life, while the dresses are in reference to the individual outfits that the figures are wearing. Normally for a quilt like this, Lynette says you would try and get fabrics from the person it is being made for as a way to provide extra meaning as it would be a memory quilt. But for this one, Lynette chose fabrics that were significant to the moments in her mother's life rather than personal fabrics.
