Made in Chris Timmins Take Six class in 2012. The first of my tops quilted on my new Sweet16 this year, in time for our guild quilt show. The name "Nimbin" reflects the rainbow colors, and refers to the "hippy" community of Nimbin in Queensland.
Que es KS? - This quilt is inspired by Ricky Tims visit to San Antonio; thanks to his instruction and creativity, and my stash! I've been wanting to make something for my sister, who lives in Kansas, but didn't want the same old country sunflowers. I used a large scale and a small scale print, with other batiks and dyed fabrics. I quilted it with various cotton, rayon, and metallic threads, and tacked on a thread painted sunflower done on a water soluable stabilizer. I planned the binding to accent the piece, and hand stamped and painted the solid golden color in the binding to add more interest. Thanks, Ricky!
