Colors of Crayons
Name of Maker: Kelly Kreft
Colors of Crayons - The blocks are from the 2005 Saturday Sampler I did. The layout (flying geese and stars) is my own design.
Snowy Sunset
Name of Maker: Pat Pollock
Snowy Sunset - This quilt is hand appliqued with some inking. It was my first applique quilt--quite an undertaking for the first! The background sunset fabric was also my first hand-dyed attempt.
Mathew's Fish
Name of Maker: Pat Pollock
Mathew's Fish - This quilt has large and small fish on a blue background with accompanying pillowcase of my own design with fish, starfish, and other sea creatures. The quilting is meandering with a series of round bubbles above each fish.
Name of Maker: Angela
Sunflowers - I say original design because I am the one that designed this pattern.
Contemporary Art/Art Quilting Basics
Name of Maker: lee of AniLee & Stephanie Forsyth
Contemporary Art/Art Quilting Basics - This was my first attempt at contemporary art quilting. Stephanie kept trying to get me to step out of my traditional quilt mode into more creative quilting. She helped me work on this and then taught the class at my shop. It was so much fun. It even inspired me to enter a piece in the MN Quilt Show Challenge "Sew Many Northern Lights" in 2006. I think there are more art quilts in my future.
Mountains in Autumn
Name of Maker: Ila McCallum
Mountains in Autumn - The background for Mountains in Autumn is an off-center log cabin block. The tree and bush are machine appliqued.
1000 Cranes
Name of Maker: Florence Barnick and others
1000 Cranes - I made this quilt for my Mom the year she was undergoing treatment for Leukemia. With the help of about 30 (?) volunteers from the internet, we made 180 paper-pieced cranes. Using a backing fabric with origami crane images, and outline quilting all of the cranes on the front, there are over 1000. The legend of the 1000 paper cranes dates back to a young girl exposed to radiation after the nuclear bombing of Japan in WWII, and she came down w/ Leukemia, so I thought it was right for my mom. All of the prayers that went into the piecing worked, she is in full remission.
Name of Maker: Cindy
halloween - quilt kit received as a birthday gift
Baltimore Album
Name of Maker: Ann Hamiliton
Baltimore Album - Handpieced applique by Ann Hamilton of Seattle, WA. The workmanship on this quilt is exquisite and it was a treat to be able to do the finish work. Ann paid close attention to detail in every hand stitch! This masterpiece measures 83*83 I used Quilters Dream Poly (select) for the batting and Superior's Bottom Line thread.
Christmas Under the Stars
Name of Maker: Owner
Christmas Under the Stars - This quilt won second place in the 2003 Moda Challenge. What a wonderful thing, as this was my first truly traditional style quilt and I had only been quilting 1 1/2 years!
