That quilt is amazing! Just goes to show what's old is new again. We're still making quilts with stars and sometimes planets in them.

This should be a picture of Ellen Harding Baker's Solar System quilt from 1876.

That quilt is part of the collection of the National Museum of American History which one of the museums of the Smithsonian Institution. The Smithsonian website is very interesting. Also a good source of information on historic quilts.

Isn't it amazing what we discover when we look with a new perspective -- new eyes!

We think art quilts are new.

Happened onto this while researching a new project -- thought someone else might found it interesting.
