The best I could find from Margo was this entry https://thequiltshow.com/forum/your-tips-and-discoveries/4952-a-major-repair#70041 but the photos don't show up so I'm not sure how useful this is to you.

AOriginally posted by "PosyP" post=127466I recall that Margo had to do a repair of this nature, and she even posted pictures on TQS of how she fixed it. I think she also used glow in the dark thread for the repair quilting so it would show up in the dark. Unfortunately I do not recall the whereabouts to track these posts down or when she posted this information

I have a damaged quilt somewhere, but have not attempted to mend it yet. It is another dog chew. He pulled it off the clothesline. My plan is to find fabric as close to the color and print as I can and to cut new pieces to fit the chewed areas. This one is hand quilted, so the picking and requilting shouldn't be too bad. Since you made the quilt, do you have fabric scraps left? I would do the same as I am going to do. Cut the triangles or whatever shape, and hand sew them in place. You may have to replace part of the batting too. Picking the machine quilting may be the hardest part.. As far as the border goes, I would remove as much as necessary to make a seam across the border and add the new piece on. If the quilt has been washed the colors may have faded some. You will just have to see how they look side by side. Good luck. Maybe someone else has a better suggestion.

I'm sorry you have to sort this out. I wouldn't know what to do. I'd probably make another quilt and leave this one in the dog basket.
I hope somebody here can help you, but it'll be difficult to advice without actually having seen the quilt.
Good luck with it!

Quilt repair
A quiltI made for my daughter has been badly chewed by their dog. I would like to repair the quilt. It is heavily machine quilted. There are a few holes as well as a damaged border. If anyone has undertaken a similar extensive repair, please share your approach.Tags: None
