Places To Sell Sewing Equipment

Most internet providers allow you to set up multiple e-mail addresses. I use one of the alternate addresses whenever, I'm required to provide an address that might be open to spammers. Then, I can either set up a message rule to automatically delete and not download messages addressed to the alternate addresses, or automatically mark them as SPAM.Originally posted by KTDesignsif you ever list anything there you may also get some spamers/scamers - I've gotten 3 such emails already.

When I first signed up to TQS, I established a special e-mail account to be used exclusively for TQS. I can direct mail addressed to this e-mail account to a separate mail folder. Shortly after establishing this account, I started receiving Nigerian scams and Austrailian Lottery scams. I was able to quickly identify these as JUNK and set up rules to automatically delete these from the server, preventing them from downloading.

Thank you all for your help! TQS is great -- ask a question... and get wonderful feedback.
I have posted at least one of my items on SewItsForSale and I've posted both on Craigs List. While I've heard good things about Craig's List and know people who have bought from Craig's List know that if you ever list anything there you may also get some spamers/scamers - I've gotten 3 such emails already.
I have also found out that my local Bernina dealer is willing to put my item on display for sale and although they get a % for selling I know that they are trustworthy and obviously have the target audience I'm looking for.
Thanks again to everyone!

There's a Yahoo list called SewItsForSale where you can sell anything sewing related. I've seend people sell things as small as some spools of thread, all the way up to long-arms. It's a high traffic list but also a high member list so you get a lot of coverage for your ad---and all for free !
Be warned, however, I joined to sell some things, and wound up buying instead

All of our local quilt stores have bulletin boards where you can post small flyers to sell machines, cabinets, etc. I'll bet you can find somewhere like that. The beauty of it is that only sewers frequent those stores, and they are local and come see it and haul it away if they are interested.

KT, my kids swear by Craigslist.com. They have sold everything from soup to nuts on there. It might be a place to try. Gloria

Thanks Kathy,
I didn't think about the local quilt guild. I'm not a member but I might be able to ask one of the member if they'd be interested in posting my items.

If you belong to a guild, they may have a newsletter you can advertise in, or put an ad on their website -- or they may let you just stand up in front of the group & offer your goodies.
If the LQS doesn't sell the items, maybe they would let you put up an ad, or even know of someone who would be interested.
Lastly, I had a very old machine that wasn't working very well. I found a local shop that had a "mission" through their church: they took donated machines, rehabbed them, and donated them to women in Mexico who have nothing. The ladies use the machines mostly to make clothing for their families. And I received a tax receipt.
Too bad I don't live closer, I'd be curious what you're getting rid of! Good luck! Kathy B.

Places To Sell Sewing Equipment
Does anyone have any suggestions - other than EBAY or Etsy - regarding the best online places to sell sewing equipment? Or can anyone give input on where they have had success selling items such as machines?
Thanks for any info. or suggestions
