    Anything about Photoshop 6?

I have heard that the plug in "copy" will trace lines of a picture so you can come up with an easy line drawing for quilting. But I can't find it on my program other than a pull down of plugins that won't let me in. Can anyone help me?

I would try Google and search on "Photoshop trace lines". Searching on Google has helped me so many times! I tried and found several hits, maybe there will be something to help you. Good luck!

I have photoshop 7 and have used the "photocopy" thing. Maybe that will help? I've only just started playing with it though so I don't really know what I'm talking about!

Thanks gals. I did finally find photocopy under the sketch options and played with it abit. It doesnt yield a line drawing like if I traced it and so far I can't find one other than the pencil which my hand isn't steady in the position I have to use right now. Oh well I'll keep trying.

I have been seriously thinking about purchasing Photoshop. Do any of you have any advice?
Also where is the best place to purchase it.

            Thanks for your help!

I have used both Photoshop ( Version CS2) for a few years and love it. I would also suggest that if you are looking at programs to digitally edit-alter photographs you might also look at Corel Draw Suit that includes both Corel draw ( vector based drawing program) and Corel Photopaint. Both Corel and Adobe's products are great programs, but they have different functions. All are good! I have used Corel for almost 15 years now and I still love what I can do with it.

You can buy either on-line through Corel or Adobe Photoshop websites. But here is another idea. Our local Community College offers non-credit classes in most of these software programs. You buy a "Student Version" through the college at a big discount. Then you pay a nominal fee to take the classes. I have seen that the total cost if doing this is about the same as buying the program from a retail source. But you gert the added plus of real time training.

There are legal limitations that apply to how one supposedly can use a student version. If you later find any of these apply, and the limitations interfere, you can buy an up-grade.

Wren thanks so much for that website. I swear I'm google-challenged because I did not find a good tutorial site. I played until the wee hours last nite and still can't come up with a good line drawing but I never give up trying. I think the directions might be for a later version but I got pretty close I think.

I so agree with your advice about the class. I wish I had done that because the Photoshop manual is impossible. I'm about to buy another manual that got good reviews on Amazon.com.
