TOPIC: Month Four (April) Ruffled Roses

Re: Month Four (April) Ruffled Roses 10 Apr 2011 11:20 #61992

Janice,

Your top is gorgeous. I love the border you used. I did the 4 patch and after taking out my floater a couple of times until I got it right it's done. I also did the pieced swag for this month and am proud to say that it measues 11x7 as per intructions. I now know that just because a foot says it's 1/4" that doesn't mean it is so. I know what 1/4" is on my machine and am enjoying piecing again.

Janice, your quilt is coming along beautifully! I really like the way that the strong geometric lines and the softness of the applique compliment each other.

I finished Month Four of Beloved Beauties. I decided to put a piano key border on it. I love the way it turned out. I'm hoping it won't fight with the final piano key/swag border. I guess I will just have to wait and see. I have posted a picture in the BOM Show and Tell.

Ritzy! Your pine bough border is awesome! I'm having issues with my non swag border too. But I admire you redoing the center. Good luck! geneva

Well, the new center is made and had three sides of it put in place when I noticed the stripes were not going the way I want them to go. So, took it all apart--again!!!! Will try it again when I am fresh.

Ritzy: I have to concur with everyone else. Your Evergreen and ornament border is stunning, and I would want to re-do my center if it didn't look right with the border. Please save your center for another project - I know you spent a lot of time getting that beautiful and balanced also.

Ritzy, your thread painted pine branches look wonderful! I can definitely see how a pine wreath in the middle would be perfect with it. Perhaps you can save your center as the start of a different project...

Wow! Ritzy, that is beautiful! Very creative. I can understand why you would want to have your center go with those two borders. If you're not happy with what it looks like now, the time it takes to do a new center would probably be a good investment. There have been times when I didn't want to take something out or rip out quilting, and after it was done, I felt much better. Kathy
