Dear Helen,
It makes me so happy to hear that you like the Laurel Ridge design. Here is a link to my blog showing a lot of pictures of the Spring version. https://sewnwildoaks.blogspot.com/20...ge-fabric.html

Dear Andrea,
I think Laurel Ridge would be beautiful in Kansas Trouble fabrics. A fabric requirements sheets will be provided.

Dear Jill,
Thank you for your question. The bulk of the blocks finish at 5". They will be 5-1/2" unfinished. Eight of the applique blocks are a little larger and some are smaller.....I like variety! One of my first tutorials will show you how to 'block' the block to make sure it is the correct size.
Take care,
Lynn Wilder

Andrea, No you can't do gray scale in EQ8. You could do a work around by printing the quilt out
in color and then lay in on the printer glass and have it printed in black and white. I have never
tried that but I think it would work. They do have sales on the software quite often. If you sign
up for their newsletter you would be notified on upcoming sales and events. It is funny that
we were both thinking Kansas Troubles color palette, if you saw the explosion of color in
my Pick a Petal (this year's BOM) you would be surprised that we even think alike at all.
You can see it if you go to SEE QUILTS on the top banner and then click on MEMBER
QUILTS and it will be the first one. Click on VIEW to see the 3 pictures. HelenW

Helen,
EQ8 sounds like fun. I only make quilts with minimal different fabrics. I dont like quilts with lots of differnt fabrics, This quilt will definetly use the most fabrics i have ever used ( I really like 3 yard quilts) EQ8 would help me modify patterns with fewer fabrics than the deisgner called for and help me know how much of each fabric I need. Does EQ8 ever go on sale? Does EQ8 allow you to see the fabrics in gray scale? THat would helpt alot.
GOod news I found a second online store that carries Kansas troubles and has some of the older lines still available, so I will have lots to pick from. I am looking foroward to making this quilt and seeing everyone elses quilt.

Andrea, Just googled the tea dye collection by Laundry Basket quilts for Andover. They are beautiful. So now I have another collection to audition in EQ8. I started drafting the Laure
Ridge pattern using Kansas trouble collections. I only got about 20% drafted. The fun part is
you can take any collection bring images of the fabric into the software and use it to see what
it would look like. Your color palette selection sounds like it would make a beautiful quilt.
I don't want to buy any fabrics until we get the requirements for yardage. Once I get my EQ8 drafted for the whole quilt, the software will calculate the yardage too. So I could go ahead once I decide
what colorway I want to go with. It is all so much fun. HelenW

Hi Helen. I am Andrea, not sure why my name is not under the avatar. I am in Canada so limited to what I can get. I was going to get the kit but worried because I like to starch and make blocks bigger and trim down, so worried I would not have enough fabric.
I found some basics and a variety form a few lines from kansas troubles. Was going to use a red, blue, green, mushroom tonal, mushroom with multi color background black with multi color for the plaid, and a yellow an orange and maybe a purple. Likely will get 10 or 11 different prints and just play around. I wish i lived in the states so I could get what ever fabric I wanted, I worry about ordering large quantities of fabric and having to pay duty.
I also think it would look nice with blenders. Andover has a new line called tea dye

Barbara, Lynn Wilder did a blog on Laurel Ridge on her Blog site. It has a lot of pictures of the blocks
and quilting on the BOM. Maybe you could put a link so everyone excited about it can see how truly
beautiful the design is. In the blog post there are 12 photos with one that has close up of 8 of the
5 inch finished blocks. HelenWLast edited by Helen W.; 10-22-2024, 12:07 PM.
