Barbara - Love Mary-Louise's use of men's ties (shown in your blog)-- so creative and the dark background really shows them off. Was the background fabric also silk? A silk quilt is still on my someday list!

Barbara, Please tell Sally that I love, love, love her combination of wool, hand embroidery, Kaffe, and then using a subtle background.

For my month 5 blocks, I experimented by mixing different fabrics. When I sewed the blocks to months one to four, I realized I should have used my eyes, not just my heart when picking fabric for vases. I know I can balance out dark/light in the next few months.

Suzanne, Your quilt is coming along beautifully. I think the vases will look great if you just continue with what you did for the vases on the side blocks. HelenW

So far it has been fairly easy to keep up. I am hoping I can maintain this over the summer. I have been cutting my applique pieces using my Brother Scan n Cut which makes the process quite easy. For some of the applique this time I substituted Sulky iron on stabilizer for freezer paper using the paper on top method for needle turn applique and I liked it a lot. The stabilizer is lighter weight than the paper.

Jeanne, love your colors. I think the work gets easier from here. One appliqué block and one pieced block months 6-9, then 4 simple appliqué blocks once you start the Diamond borders.

Like the Black and White 1. Borderline and the Team Vanessa in the 2.border. IT gives good structure
            To the quilt.

Not sure why the pic does not show the bottom row, but if you open the pic, the whole top is visualized

As you can see I had to make a bit of a correction by adding a 1/2 inch border. In hind sight, I think the paper pieced triangle borders are not the same. Honestly I’m not sure which is correct but I suspect that the second border is the incorrect size. I find this interesting as I thought that the process was so much easier than the first.
If you enlarge the pic you will also see that I have added some embroidery to the baskets. I was going for symbols of peace, love, rock & roll & justice. The heart for ‘love’ is not quite complete in the pic.

Pamela, both paper pieced borders were the correct size. Month 2 borders are 33" long, finished, using 11 triangles that are each 3" at the base and 2.5" high. When taping the pages together it is important to measure the paper pattern created to be sure it is 33.5" x 3" including seam allowances. I am sorry you had trouble but you came up with a fine solution. Good job.
