Well, Geneva, I'd say you have become quite proficient with the walking foot! Your work on "The Doors" is wonderful. And, is that couched yarn/cording I see in the perimeters? Very cool! Love the colors, love the quilting!

Yes Dawn, that is 2 different threads couched together. I bought the Bernina couching foot and it makes it so easy to couch threads.

Judy, just sew stuff! Every time I start to quilt something I get all balled up in my head and can't do anything! Finally I just draw a line and go for it. It always works out. I usually like to use several different colors of thread also. It gives a little more pizzazz to the quilting.

Thank you everyone for your compliments on "The Doors". It was such fun to make. I think I may have posted pictures of it on my blog on the old site. But here are some more. First is a full size view,

Here is another close up view,

And here is a picture of the Coke can in Times Square that helped me focus all the pieces/sections of "The Doors" into one piece.

It was cold and rainy yesterday and we planted 3 more trees here on Cairn Carroll. Today it is supposed to be sunny and 75! Yay!

      Take care my friends,

Love The Doors, Geneva--great colors and the composition, while informal is so appealing. Your imagination and sense of for color and composition are wonderful.

Wendy, what's a crouching foot?
Your having trouble with your worms.
Have a lovely weekend........the sun is shining but it's still only 5 degrees here in Surrey.
Stay warm and cuddle up with Ingrid.

Don't worry Wendy we will soon be moaning about the heat and trying to cool down.
In May I hope to go to Spain for a week it's up in the hills so hope it won't be too hot.

A crouching foot is very similar to a couching foot. The only difference is that you must crouch over the sewing machine bed while couching threads.

Thanks for the picture of the whole quilt! Love geometric quilts! And, your couching and hanging doodads are such a wonderful artistic touch! Details! It's all in the details.

I'm supposed to able to do free motion couching with my new machine, so that will be a lot of fun to try. Not sure where I'd use that particular technique on a quilt, though. But, I can picture it on a pillow or a tote, perhaps.

                          Nancy.....

                            >Free Motion< and >Couching< in the same sentence really intimidate me. Bravo to all who don't get intimidated!

Terrie, You'd be just fine, if only you had more chocolate on board. If you lack courage you must have not eaten enough chocolate. That's the secret! I am sure of it. Try it you'll like it!
