Don’t you hate it when the edges of your fabrics ravel and make a tangled mess in your washing machine? Here’s a simple tip to help minimize the “damage.” Take a small, diagonal snip from each corner of a new fabric before tossing it into the laundry. Those pesky ravels will have a hard time getting started.-

Whirlwind and frenzy - two words that tend to describe my life these days. Immediately following the taping of Series 3, the gallery was transformed into a retreat space for quilters. This group did a specatular job designing their one-of-a-kind quilts - several decided to create a Rhaspody quilt.

Here are photos of three Rhapsody quilts started last week. Makers from top to bottom are: Vickie McCarty (Kentucky), Monica Troy (Illinois), and Ann Haller (Oregon).

Interested in coming to a La Veta Quilt Retreat? All the info is on my website. Simply enter the lottery list. You never know, you might get a call for 2009 retreats. There are several retreats each year.

Our member Margot is helping with lessons and pictures as she and friends progress on the Blocks of the Month.  Check out the fun photos and get some instruction on contruction of the blocks.

Remember the picture of the BOM is just a guide.  Use your imagination.

Thank you Margo.

Ouch!!! Have you pricked your finger and stained your quilt? Dab the spot with a drop of your own saliva before trying any other remedy. The enzymes in your saliva will make the bloodstain easier to remove. Sounds like an old wives’ tale, but it works!

We got here safe and sound - despite the weather. Last night I got to play and did I ever play!!!! Perhaps financially I should have stayed in the Bernina booth the whole time. It is AMAZING what a gal can spend in a matter of minutes! If you happen to be at festival you will find me in the Bernina booth Friday afternoon and Sat. mid day. Stop by and say, "its a new day!".

There is still time to get in the mix to be eligible to win a trip to La Veta during the next round of tapings this September - Simply refer your friends to The Quilt Show and when they register and include your name as the reference - then your ticket will go into the cyber hat. Not only did I get to hang out with Jill and Henry yesterday at Pine Needles, but my buddy Heidi Kaisand was also there! We go a WAY long WAY back. I first met Heidi at Sisters OR about 15 years ago. I have watched her career with great admiration but more importantly have watched her family grow! Last year, to this day, the girls were born , thats right - twins! Big brother Henry probably has his hands full! Happy birthday Virgina and Goldie - and many more!

And what a day it has been - many of you were here to celebrate Pine Needle's new store. And WOW - it is a beauty. On top of a bunch of very happy people AND a sparkling new store, Chloe received a bernina for her 8th birthday AND I got to meet Winnie who is 100 years young. This was an incredible day in Cedar Rapids, IA.

The new address is 1,000 Old Marion Rd, NE Cedar Rapids. 319-373-0334.

BTW: Don't mention this to Jill,  but this is Henry's store!
