You people are the best! Because of your "heads up" it has come to my attention that my personal site www.alexandersonquilts.com is in need of TLC. My beloved webmaster Matt is going to try to make the upgrades and transitions as painless as possible (evening work), and hopefully in a week all will be A-OK. Thanks for covering my back.

The Home Machine Quilting Show (HMQS) is pleased to announce that the award-winning musical group, Joshua Creek, will perform an exclusive concert for show attendees on Saturday, April 21st at 12:30 p.m. on the Handi Quilter main stage. HMQS attendees will have the fantastic opportunity to hear Joshua Creek live as part of their regular show admission.

Joshua Creek is sure to be one of the highlights for HMQS attendees! Pearl Award finalists, Quint Randle and Jeff Hinton, have been writing songs together for nearly six years and have numerous songs published by Nashville and L.A. - based publishers. They've garnered movie soundtrack credits and cuts by other inspirational artists, including the #1 hit, "I Love You, Son" for Christian country artist, Jackie Cox. In 2004, the duo received an honorable mention for their song, "Everything I Need", in the Nashville Song Search contest. Their debut album "Joshua Creek" CD was named 1st Runner Up for album of the month by Powersource magazine, in which country superstar, Alan Jackson, recieved top honors.

In 2005, Quint and Jeff signed a recording contract with Covenant Communications for their inspirational band, Joshua Creek. The group plays a unique blend of country-esque music and inspirational lyrics of faith and family. Most well known to the public is their hit song, "Marry You Again", which is frequently requested and played on local radio stations. The Deseret Morning News calls Joshua Creek's debut CD "the perfect chill album". To hear a sample of Joshua Creek's songs, go to www.joshuacreekmusic.com

The count down for taping our first episodes of The Quilt Show is around the corner. As you can imagine we are filled with many emotions, all good! On the shows, both Ricky and I will have opportunity to answer questions - to be exact, YOUR questions. Between the two of us, we have a solid background in quilting and we want to help YOU! I can't promise we will get to all of them, but let the games begin by posting your questions right here in Blog Land. We look forward to hearing from you!

No, not The Quilt Show (we're moving ahead, steady as she goes) It's YOUR show and it needs to go ON the website for everyone to know about! Look and you'll see that we now have EVENTS in the menu bar. It is the link for you to post all quilt shows, events and activities. Is your guild having a show? Are you affilated with the county or state fair? We encourage you to make sure that your favorite event is listed here.

When you post an event here, World Quilt Community members will be able to find it. Just imagine, you are planning a trip to Florida in March. You select Events or Search in the Menu Bar - select Find An Show/Event and do a search for Shows that will be held in March in Florida. - Wow! You can make plans to attend an event you might not otherwise even known about.

But what if there are shows and you dont' find them on our site? Well, that is because nobody posted it. You can post upcoming events even if they are way out in the future. We hope you'll enjoy and apprecaite this fetaure and that you'll take adavanate of this new feature and get your event or show listed right away.

168_571454.gifHave you had the chance to bookmark Gina's blog, the Quilters Buzz? I first met Gina a few years ago at market and what a bundle of energy she is! I really like her website and thought you ahould see it also (if you haven't already!). Added plus? I woke up this morning and she had given our community a nice plug. Thanks Gina. Ricky with a koala and Justin with a kangaroo - Australia 2005

Ricky and Justin - planting oaks in a 'wrath' on a farm in Ireland - 2006.

You might think we never change clothes! - I just realized that we are both wearing the same shirts in both places - in photos taken over a year apart. I assure you, I take a shower at least once a week and clothes get washed at least once between visits to other countries - LOL.

I LOVE traveling to far away places to learn about the culture and beauty of foreign lands. The photos above are just a sample of the many photographs from my international travels.

As you may know, the name of our site is The Quilt Show - getting the name from the actual SHOW that will be posing in April. The term World Quilt Community is YOU, our members, and we desire for the site to have an honest to goodness world-wide appeal and membership. It is very easy for us (Alex and Ricky) to think and express on a national level, but quite another thing to think globally. So here's my first appeal to our international members - What can we do on our end to make this site more exciting for you?

It is important to reiterate that the actual content on the site is user submitted. If our international members know of special events or quilt activities in their country that should be promoted, then please submit a press release by using the Contact link and selecting Press Releases/News in the subject pull-down. Selected news stories or events will be posted on the blog for us all to read. Personally, I want to know what is going on in the UK, Ireland, Down Under and Canada. I'd love to know about events in non-English speaking countries too.

My second appeal is for our international members to take the lead and help us with international member submitted content. Tell your quilting friends about us. It is exciting to see the growth of this site. We will continue to develop new site features and tweek those that already exist in order to bring the entire quilting world the richest, most valuable quilting web site on the planet.

167_987721.jpgThis years class at Asilomar (www.emptyspoolsseminars.com) was a little off the beaten trail for me. Rather than tackle a subject matter (ie stars), I taught Independant Study. What that ment was that each student came with her own project in tow to work on. There were fifteen students in total with projects varied in many directions. Over the course of the five days we significantly bonded as a group and pushed through many challenges. It got me thinking about how fun learning is and that at ANY age we must all aspire to continue our education. It reminded me of a conversation I had with Ricky over the holidays. Pushed to learn Power Point, by the man himself, I was lamenting about "wasting" two days learning the program. He quickly (and kindly) stopped me in my tracks by saying, "you are never wasting time when learning". How true that is! At the end of the five days I asked my students to committ to what thery are going to learn in the near future and "just do it". What are YOU going to learn in the near future? Here is your chance to get it in writing! Kathy learned accuracy is key when working small scale.
