Deportation pieced by Jackie Benedetti, quilted by Rachael Dorr, won Best Machine Quilting, Framed, sponsored by Handi Quilter, at QuiltCon 2020. Jackie was kind enough to show us a picture of the memorial on her phone. The quilt is a stunning representation of the memorial.

Congratulations Jackie and Rachael.

Artist Statement: “This quilt was inspired by a sculpture in the Memorial to the Martyrs of the Deportation in Paris. It honors the French Jews, and other 'undesirables' who were deported to the concentration camps in WWII. The triangle and circle wall at the memorial entrance inspired Rachael's quilting (which also includes some segments of barbed wire). Never again!”
