Noriko Endo's quilt, White Trees & Butterflies, was inspired by a large screen of white trees waving in the wind. This gave her the idea of creating the trees on her quilt by stitching them with white thread. And, while the butterflies are beautiful, you'll notice she included a couple of scary little creatures that create their own lacy designs. Take a look.

This quilt was on display as part of the Alternative Techniques exhibit at the Houston International Quilt Festival 2018.

I just love the evolving work by Noriko. Just amazing effects. I enjoy how she sees things and then does it in fabric and thread.

I always want to see Noriko's new art quilts. Every year she seems to create something new, exciting, and different. I have taken two of her classes at the Houston Festival and found her teaching just as inspiring.

Several years ago when I visited Japan, I remember going through the forest in our bus in the direction of Mount Fuji and as I looked at the forest surrounding us I realized it looked familiar because it was as if I was looking at Noriko's quilts.

Unique. Modern quilters should really like this one as well.

I like her use of color thrughout the background. The butterflies just pop and add dimension. Her quilting is wonderful and I like the fact that she added surprises within it. This is a wonderful quilt.

This is a stunning quilt! I love her creativity. It's refreshing to see quilts made with non-traditional patterns and opens my eyes to how excellent quilters see life and then capture a beautiful view on fabric.
