How many quilt shows have you been to where you stood in front of a quilt and wondered..."What is the story?" Many shows have the name of the quilt and the quilter, but QuiltWorks goes a step further. Each month on the first Friday, QuiltWorks in Bend, Oregon introduces a new quilt display in their upstairs gallery with a featured quilter reception. The reception is a wonderful evening gathering for the greater Central Oregon quilting community. The show then continues to hang for the rest of the month.

This month there was a call out for quilts from previously featured quilters and the quilts were fantastic! But, what I really loved is that each quilt had a detailed description from the quilter. It is so revealing what compels, inspires, or motivates us to make quilts. This time I decided to not just include slides of the quilts, but the narrative about each quilt. You can stop and start the slide show at will so you can have time to read the story behind each quilt. There was only one quilt that I couldn't get the narrative because it was pinned to the quilt. Get a cup of coffee or tea, take your time, and enjoy the slide show :)

Stay tuned and travel along with us on Quilt Roadies.

So sad it’s closing. I was just there after the quilt show.

What fun! I've been to Quiltworks various times, and their beautiful quality fabrics inspire me. In addition, the artistic goal of monthly 'group' and 'individual' quilt shows fill your soul! Thank you for all the photos--getting a few new ideas, here.

I will enjoy time reading and looking at these quilts. Much of what I make, I gift and I always include a letter regarding the quilt. The reason I named the quilt what I did, where and why the fabrics were picked, the type of construction that was used for piecing and quilting. And lastly why the person was selected as the recipient. I have always hoped the receiver enjoys the information as much I did writing it down.
