Postage Stamp quilts are made up of little tiny scraps of fabric. How many fabrics, you decide. In Alpine Meadow by Cynthia L. Vogt, there are lots of little rectangles, and we mean lots, but they are from very similar fabrics. What would you call it, a postage stamp quilt, a modern quilt, an abstract quilt, a strip quilt? Whatever you call it, we call it beautiful.

Alpine Meadow was on display at AQS QuiltWeek Paducah Spring 2019.

The quilter has an excellent brain. My mind would be overwhelmed with the design,
Great job.

The maker decides— if she was interpreting a traditional pattern, then she can call it that. If she was intending to be modern— so be it. Rules and names are guide not definitions.

Lighten up ladies. It’s modern and beautiful. No need to make it fit into a specific box. Love it and the antique one as well!

I think it’s beautiful! Not a colour palette I would have considered (wish I could) but look how gorgeous it is. Well done!

I'd call it a strip pieced quilt because it looks like strips of fabric have been sewn horizontally then cut into strips vertically, then mixed up and arranged with different strips of white in between

I love seeing how a traditional pattern becomes more when someone uses a modern twist. This is lovely!
