Masami Yoshihara made this stunning appliqué quilt, Happy, to express the happiness she feels when Spring arrives. She pulled out all the stops by hand piecing, appliquéing, beading, embroidering and "trapunto-ing" (is that a word). It's a beautiful quilt and makes us Happy as well.

Happy was part of the Appliqué Large exhibit at the Houston International Quilt Festival 2018.

Made me smile, so the name is apropro. Lovely workmanship and great design. Guess we all could use some lessons in the Japanese applique methods!

Scrumptious color choice! I love the stars and the hearts remind me of my spring Bleeding Heart plant that is blooming outside right now in April at my house! I like how she fit the printed fabric into t he stars. Just lovely design!
