Yes, we run pretty fast taking pictures at quilt shows. Some quilts make us stop and say "Wait, how did she do that?" This is one of those quilts. The scene is beautiful and the boats are just well done applique....not applique?.... This quilt won 1st Place in the Small Wall Quilts - Pictorial at Spring Paducah 2018 and is 58" x 38".

Jan used Fused Appliqué, Digital Fabric Printing, Hand Dyeing, Free-Motion Quilting, Fabric Painting, Thread Painting, and Thread Sketching. So, take a look closer look.

Wow that is some mighty fine thread painting. You certainly used the best techniques for the most incredible results.

You're probably not aware, but the moment I saw your fabulous quilt, it looks no less than an exact replica of a little town close to Mobile, Alabama, whose shrimping industry was wiped out for years by hurricane Katrina. The mayor would no doubt hang your quilt with pride, and anyone who saw it would automatically think it was their own little town come back to life. Kudos, Kudos, and Kudos. You make me want to try something besides baby quilts!

It's a beautiful quilted art piece. Penny M. Yes. But you wouldn't put it on your bed.
Congratulations , Jan!

I absolutely feel it is a quilt. I agree with the
person above that said it doesn’t have to lay
on a bed to be a quilt! Beautiful! I can feel the
breeze off of the water! And the smell of
fish! Well done!
