"At first glance, many believe that Ian Berry’s work are blue toned photographs or indigo coloured oil paintings. This is not only when viewed online or in print, when much of the depth and detail is lost, but even up close. Even at touching distance, many viewers don’t realize that they are looking at many layers, and shades, of denim jeans."

I went to Paducah for the the first time ever specifically to see Ian’s work. I have been following his work for several years so being able to see it up close was amazing! He’s very talented and it was worth the trip!

Would be great to get Ian on the show. I saw his about 4 years ago in a media platform, and am so glad to see he has stepped into the fabric art side that the quilting world supports.

Wow! Beautiful work. I am from UK and wasn’t aware of Ian. It’s amazing what info I get about artists and exhibitions here from the quilt show - many thanks.

What an amazing artist. But so much more amazing, what an amazing human being! You inspire my heart!

"Not quilts..." are they stitched or fused/glued? No batting? Not 3 layers?
Just curious.

Great interview! Thank you for sharing this with us!

I was lucky enough to see Ian‘s work at the European Patchwork exhibition in Ste Marie aux Mines in 2017 - it is amazing and really does have to be seen in person to appreciate the depth and dimension and incredible detail.
