Sharon teaches another way to cut striped triangles to create interesting designs that line up on the outside of the square.  She also includes a safety tip for rotary cutting.

I like that she shows how easy it is to use a second ruler to keep those fingers safe. Great reminder!

In my classes I make the students cut with their left hand.
NO second ruler.
NO cutting towards one's self.
The last time a student said "I can't use my left hand.", I asked "Which hand do you use when you wash your hair?"
Hold the ruler with the right hand and cut with the left. It's actually VERY easy and requires no thought.
