    Embroidary or quillt first
Started by PaulineAnn Saturday, 25 April 2015 4 Replies

I love beckypb's answer - we are all here to help one another. The embroidery definitely needs to happen first. The good news on this pattern is the extra size is often part of the pattern. When you get to the quilting stage you will just pick a pattern that will not go over the embroidery.

Sizing for pieces - problem with top oatmeal section
Started by Laubmeier Wednesday, 11 February 2015 2 Replies

The oversized oatmeal strip is cut at 19". Once you have completed the block it will be trimmed down to 18 1/2" x 18 1/2". Check to see if you sewed the oatmeal strip in the correct position at the top of the block. That might make a difference with your final numbers.

Charcoal #23 - want to set aside binding
Started by donnamc Saturday, 03 January 2015 2 Replies

I think you are right on with the binding. I would add a little more just in case you might want to make it on the biais, then you could have a little waste there.

As for the border strip, I think it is 1" wide too. I was able to design most of the quilt in EQ7, with the center block being 18", nine-patches are 3", the bigger blocks are all designed with thirds, so I hope they are 9" or else!, with that border made with 1" squares, this leaves probably 5" for the vine appliqué background, 9" for the top and bottom appliqué border (heart and fence) and 4" for the last border with flying geese. I get the size of the quilt at the charcoal border to be 56" x 76", so this would mean (56+76) x 2 = 264 plus the seam allowances. I agree with your calculations of 7 strips X 1-1/2 wide.

Renata's calculations are accurate, I would add a few inches more, just in case....

    2015 BOM reduced size
Started by Tqquilter Monday, 29 December 2014 26 Replies

As I wanted to do a quillow I am going to do a 2/3rds version - finishing 46 x 60 inches. starting with a 12 inch house and grass block and adjusting the borders so I can have 6 inch blocks in the later border.

    January Block
Started by Tribblemom Thursday, 01 January 2015 4 Replies

Well, I suppose the piecing can finally start for me! After much deliberation and taking photos of fabric combinations, loving them one day and hating them the next, I have finally stumbled on a combo of fabrics from my stash that I will feel comfortable starting this BOM with. I liked some features from Lynette Anderson's other quilts, so I'll be putting two birds instead of one on the roof (unless I end up with shi-shi dogs from Okinawa...) and since this will be a Christmas quilt, I'm almost sure I'll be embroidering trunks and branches of what will be Christmas trees in front of the house, instead of applique work on the trees . Hope I don't change my mind again...

    2015 BOM Fabric Bundle
Started by Tribblemom Wednesday, 03 December 2014 2 Replies

My bundle arrived in the mail and I couldn't wait to open it up and admire the raw materials. I won't be able to start it on time because I am undertaking a double wedding quilt pattern for one of my daughter's as an upcoming wedding gift.
