Events begin with classes and a Bus Tour to La Conner, Washington, on Thursday. The tour begins with a tour of the tulip fields of Skagit County, followed by a visit to the Pacific Northwest Fiber Arts Museum in La Conner, with lunch and shopping available in town. Join us for this day of fun on Thursday and then attend the Gala that evening.
Eighteen classes are offered Thursday - Saturday for beginning to advanced quilters in machine and handwork, including Keynote speaker Katie Pedersen teaching “Double Trouble” an improvisational style quilt and several long arm machine quilting classes taught by award winning quilters. Friday and Saturday at the show you will find free demonstrations, plus adult and children Make & Take projects offered in separate areas where all can learn a new technique and take home an item. The HandiQuilter Long Arm machines and Make & Take Bernina machines are provided by Quilting Mayhem of Snohomish and are available for purchase at the show.
The evening events begin with the elegant Opening Night Gala on Thursday at 6:00 pm, where hors d’ oeuvres are served, micro-featured artists will display and talk about their quilts and you will be the first to view the quilts and see the ribbon winners. The Gala will be held in the Edward D Hanson Event Center Ballrooms.
Keynote Speaker Evening on Friday features Ted Hoffman of American Brand Fabric and Katie Pedersen, Quilt Artist and Teacher, who are speaking on fabrics, quilts and more. Enjoy relaxing flute and harp music and a private quilt gallery, not available at the show. This evening will be at the lovely PUD Auditorium, at 2320 California St, Everett, a few blocks from the Event Center. The stadium style seating will give everyone a good view of the stage. The auditorium is handicap accessible.
The show of nearly 300 quilts, opens Friday & Saturday morning at 10:00 am and closes at 5:00 pm each day. Inspiration will be abundant as you view quilts in the eighteen categories. The Stitches Marketplace Vendors will be open during the show hours and offer a range of fabric, patterns and products to enhance your personal quilting.
Quilt Entry is open to the public February 15-March 30. There are judged and non-judged categories including, Children’s and a Show Theme Challenge. A special display from Washington State Quilters in Spokane will also be at the show. Quilts will be judged by two accredited judges with over $4,000 in cash prizes awarded for 1st, 2nd, 3rd places with custom ribbons.
This year’s Show Theme Challenge is to make a 24”x24” quilt for “It’s Raining Quilts!”, details on website. The challenge will be entered and judged with the show quilts. Additionally, check out 2020’s show challenge information at this year’s show.
Food is available at nearby restaurants. Everett is 30 miles north of Seattle, accessible by car, bus, train and air through Alaska Airlines with shopping, aviation museum, golf, etc available for your free time.
An opportunity for those in guild leadership positions is the North Summit Leadership Breakfast, Saturday at 8-10am. This meeting is geared toward coaching guild leaders to be great managers of their guild’s resources and volunteers. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org for further information.
