Description:
I wanted to gift my son and daughter in law a quilt. I've given quilts to other family members, so it was their turn. They chose the colors...blue but no yellow! The elements were Moroccan motifs in the blocks. The motif is repeated in the center. I chose arabesque designed fabrics mostly from Spoonflower. The Hand of Fatima is used in both small and large scale. Another hand motif is featured as the centers of some blocks. One print, no longer available, was a turquoise print called Istanbul. Because I don't have a local longarm quilter, I decided to QAYG. This influenced the layout and construction of the large sections. In some of the white blocks I accented the them using a machine embroidered quilt motif called Moroccan Tiles. I used a paisley sashing to join the pieces. Along a side strip, I machine embroidered the "label and dedication ". All in all it too about 2 months to design and complete. The recipients were delighted .
