Featured Quilt - First Place Traditional at PIQF 2021

Prolific award-winner Margaret Solomon Gunn has done it again and won another First Place award. This time her quilt, Hungarian Rhapsody, won First Place in the Traditional category at PIQF XXX. Margaret says of the work that went into her quilt, "This original design is constructed from bold shades of silk Radiance. The hand appliqué mimics patterns seen in Hungarian crewel embroidery. My hand-guided longarm quilting includes motifs to complete the garden theme. Accents of embroidery, lace, beads & crystals are added." Take a look at this beautiful work, and be inspired to create your next award-winner!

A Heart-Warming Story of Giving Back

"While quilting bees generally conjure images of grandmas piecing together scraps of fabric to create family heirlooms for future generations, crafting the colorful, cozy bed covers has become an outlet for incarcerated men not only to express their creativity but to give something positive back to the communities from which they came."

"Arlington Row, Bibury Village, The Cotswolds, England" by Meri Henriques Vahl

Arlington Row, Bibury Village, The Cotswolds, England was based on, as the name suggests, a trip that Meri took to The Cotswolds in England. Years earlier when Meri was writing science fiction, she still does by the way, she needed a location for a planet and came across an image in Sunset magazine that she posted next to her computer for inspiration. Then when she went to England, she turned a corner and there was that same place.
