"You can register and learn how to bid at www.saqa.com/auction. You also can see a full preview of the auction quilts, which are original 12 x 12-inch works created by SAQA artists from around the world.
As you search through the quilts, it’s obvious that Alex’s quilt is well-named: X Marks the Spot. It is a playful abstract that makes use of a pleasing two-color palette. Its title makes it obvious that there is something for everyone, from animal lovers to those who love the great outdoors.
The Benefit Auction is a reverse price auction, which means the first bidder wins. It will open on September 12 with Diamond Day, when each quilt is available for $1,000. After that, the quilts will be divided into three sections, with a new set available each Monday. Prices start at $750 and drop daily until they reach $150.
After that three-week period, any remaining pieces will be available for $100 through mid-December at www.saqa.com. That gives you plenty of time to purchase a unique holiday gift for you or a fabric-loving friend."
