2022 Event Theme is Sustainability Stories
ASHEVILLE, NC, May 21, 2022 The nonprofit Quilt Alliance announces speakers and sponsors for the 2022 edition of their virtual event, Quilters Take a Moment (QTM).

The QTM 2022 fundraiser marks the 10th event in the Alliance's Quilters Take Manhattan series and will be held virtually September 13-18, 2022, featuring a 3-day Main Event with optional Add-On sessions like workshops and demonstrations. All attendees will be invited to a free kick-off reception to meet our sponsors. The event will be co-hosted this year by Meg Cox, Laura Hopper and Amy Milne.

Moda Fabrics + Supplies returns as Presenting Sponsor and underwriter for this year’s Spotlight Quilters' Save Our Stories (QSOS) interviews. This year three fascinating quiltmakers, Carla Hemlock, Tula Pink and Jennifer Sampou, will share their stories with interviewers Gwen Westerman, Angela Walters, and Patty Murphy.

All interviews will be recorded in advance and premiere on event days followed by a live Q&A with the interviewee pairs. QSOS interviews are archived in the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress and the Louie B. Nunn Center for Oral History at the University of Kentucky.

Quilt Alliance director Amy Milne says this year's topic, Sustainability Stories, was selected by popular demand and is an especially appropriate theme for the organization and the times.

The Quilt Alliance will commemorate several milestones in 2022-23. This September we celebrate a decade of the QTM event and next year marks the 30th anniversary of our organization. What started as Quilters Take Manhattan in 2011 has become Quilters Take a Moment. Sustaining the spirit and reputation of the in-person event held in the Big Apple was our guiding objective when the pandemic forced the event online.

Seeing QTM not only survive but grow in this format, tells us that our sponsors and our audience are committed to preserving the rich and diverse heritage of our community. This year's QTM includes over thirty talented and innovative speakers and we couldn't be more proud to work with them to bring you our biggest program ever.

Aurifil, also a longtime supporter of the Quilt Alliance, will again serve as a Platinum sponsor and underwriter for three panel discussions, each spotlighting issues of sustainability in the quilting community.
Panel discussions include:

Second Lives: Re-using Vintage and Antique Quilts
Moderated by Meg Cox. Panelists: Sandra Chandler, Marjorie Childress, Coulter Fussell, Roderick Kiracofe and Kim Martucci.

Sustainable Stitching: Making Quilts with the Earth in Mind
Moderated by Zak Foster. Panelists: Eliu Hernandez, Natalya Khorover, Amanda Nadig, Bridget O’Flaherty, and Kim Soper.

Sustaining a Creative Business
Moderated by Michele Muska. Panelists: Lisa Bongean, Morna McEver Golletz, Karla Overland, Andrea Tsang Jackson, and Latifah Saafir.

Gold level sponsors include the Modern Quilt Guild and eQuilter.com. These returning partners serve as underwriters for a special segment to be shared via the event website: Go Tell It! Sustainability Stories. Through August 18, anyone can upload a 3-minute video using the Go Tell It! guidelines to share the story of one of their pieces made on the theme of sustainability.

This year, thanks to support from our Silver sponsors we are offering four workshops as optional add-on events for attendees. Sponsors at the Silver level this year are all returning supporters, including: Oliso, Mistyfuse, Make It Simpler, Gotham Quilts and Artistic Artifacts.
