This month’s trees as made from bias strips, and we’ll show you a slick way to make bias stems any width you like.  We’ll also give you a tip for positioning appliqué patches without a light box or on dark fabric.

I had to draw one more scallop to make the roof scalloped trim long enough for the final roof edge.

Why when I taped the template sheets together is the block not 18.5 inches. It is 17 inches. The roof piece doesn't have any applique so why is it bigger than the sheets when they are taped together. Something isn't right here. Is the 18.5 inch center block to be trimmed to 17? Am I to piece the house block the size of the template or the size of the cutting directions.

Why is my house one inch too wide when cut per instructions. My applique trim piece is too short to be appliqued at the roof edge.

Hi Tech support
I have been unable to print Jan & Feb instructions for 2015 BOM. I did successfully print the templates (p8-11) of Jan 2015, but not the instructions. Do you have a hint? I'm using Safari (Apple) and a Lexmark laser printer (shades of grey)
I can be emailed on
Thanks for your help. Helen

Thanks, Lynette, for your response on the fusible stabilizer for embroidery.

I used a 1/4" finished stem for the branches of the tree and slightly wider for the trunk. Hope this helps. Lynette

I use a fusible lightweight stabilzer on the back of most of my work. There are many brands available, my favourite is called Sheer magic by Jenny Haskins.

What is the interfacing used on the back of the quilt fabric for stabilization?

Hi - in the instructions on page 4 it states that Lynette uses 2 different widths of bias for the tree. Is it possible to establish the finished width of each piece she uses as I can't locate that in the instructions.
